Eteuati’s Maths Learning Story Term 3 2019 How do we solve a tricky math problem as a group?  Eluama’s family in Tokelau tell him to get some coconuts. He climbs three different coconut trees.  He climbed 3m up the first tree, 3.9m up the second tree and 2.2m up the third tree.  His friend climbed 3 different trees. The first one he climbed was 2.4m, the second one he climbed was 3.3m and the third one he climbed was 4.3m.  Which of them did the most climbing that day?   So first we write down the problem. Then we were comparing the first tree that Eluama climbed which was 3m and the second tree that he climbed wish was 3.9m so I added them together which = 6.9m. At that point, we had to add the third tree Eluama climbed, which was 4.3m so we add 4.3 to 6.9 and it =11.2  so that is how high Eluama climbed.  The first tree that his friend climbed, he went 2.4m up so I add the first tree that his friend clim...

Eteuati’s Visual Arts Inquiry Learning Story Term 3 2019 How do we communicate our ideas and opinions about an issue through visual arts?    My inquiry In my inquiry we  had to find an issue that I felt strongly about. The issue that I feel strongly  about is climate change. I feel strongly about climate change because I want to live a safe life e.g the earth is drying up and the ice is melting, this will affect people and animals living on earth. The Amazon Forest is burning that is a key breathing source for us people. Uati's digital tech learning stories. '' The science of today is the technology tomorrow'' Edward Teller options of  Digital Tech: bee bot spheres scratch hour of code python Minecarft. The one that I did was bee bot. The bee bot was a bot that you had to code,you had to code it to get some ingredients.  I want you to know that I was good at thinking of ideas and  because my buddy was giving me ideas. I was also good at helping my group to stay focused. I was good at being in the waka by focusing on my work.   The key competency I used well was managing self because I never got off track when I was learning and the other key comps I used well was thinking because I was thinking were to sit and who to get feed back from.  I want you to know that I found it hard to find a good spot to work at, it was also hard to think of an idea in my head.  I was good at coding the bee bot. This is my swimming Snapshot of Learning. This is my swimming learning and I am showing this to you because it was fun and we all got to learn how to swim safely in water.   We need to learn how to swim and be safe because you might drown. I want to share this with you because I learned how to be safe in the water. We had to huddle toge09ther in a circle and wait for someone to rescue us. We learned how to call out for help by putting your hand up.  We also got to know how to use some skills in the water. It is super important to learn how to swim because the sea is dangerous and I like going to the beach where I can use my new skills. The key competencies that I used were managing myself by staying with my group to know what is happening. I can also relate to others by helping them when they need help. My next steps are to listen to the instructor because I keep on going in the water when they are talking, and I also need to work on puttin...

This is my Pedal Ready Snapshot of Learning This is my pedal ready learning and I am showing this to you because I learned how to signal on a bike safely while riding on the road. The key competencies I used was participating and contributing when I was having a go at pedal ready because I like riding a bike. I also used relating to others by encouraging others to keep riding and not give up. My next step is to listen to the instructor because it's really important to be safe when riding on the road and self manage because I always get distracted from things around me.

Reading with expressions.

This is the learning that I am showing to you because this work was fun and a really good opportunity to read a book with expressions, to make it more interesting for the reader. I am sharing this because I want you to know how better I got at reading a book with expressions or no expressions and also to increase my reading level. The key competencies that I used were managing self by being in the waka, relating to others by encouraging my friends to change their voice and I was also encouraging my self because I was also scared too.         In the library, we were reading a funny book about animals. We were changing our voices to make the book interesting. We were learning to read with lots of expressions. My next step is to take a risk and not be afraid to change my voice when I am pretending to be a different character in the story.
